Bigger Government: Polis Creates a New Office in His Administration

Polis goes after the “gig” economy…

Governor Jared Polis created a new office with another executive order: the Office of Future Work. So what do you think this office does? Is it some new futuristic sci-fi office? Do they employ a bunch of mystics to predict the future? Nope – just another government program to stick its nose in the business of people doing business.

Let us explain. Polis and the other liberal democrats realized there is something called a “gig” economy. The concept is that people work multiple jobs instead of having the traditional 9 to 5 office job. For example, you work the counter at a marijuana shop, and then you go drive UBER.

The new office was set up to allegedly make sure people in the gig economy are taken care of…by the government. Some of this “taken care of” is making sure they have health insurance, retirement, etc.

Here’s the problem, the gig economy is a result of the free market, regulatory, and tax/economic policy. First, there was a need for these gig-type jobs. However, the labor costs associated with them being full-time and traditional nine to five are too high because of tax, regulatory, and other economic policies. Hence the gig.

If you’ve been following along with our articles or had to deal with the government at any time in your life, you know what the intention of this new government Office of Future Work is – to regulate businesses and people.

Luckily, we have a new department head making $95,000 a year plus government benefits (a lot more money and benefits than the average Colorado resident) leading the charge. If you look at her Linked-in page, you see that her entire career has been spent in the public sector. Horrible experience for dealing with businesses and economic issues – because she has zero private sector experience.

Our “future” prediction: this new government office will damage if not kill the gig economy and hurt workers. We find it funny that the left claims they’re champions of the worker. When, in fact, their programs and economic policies are what displace workers in the first place. The government doesn’t create jobs; the government kills them when they meddle in the private sector.

Guess you should use UBER and LYFT while you can.
