Dem lawmaker turns to threats, bribery

Report of Corruption

Yesterday, Representative Tim Geitner, R-El Paso, spoke on the House floor about illegal threats he received from a member of the majority party.

Geitner alleged the woman responsible for the coercion threatened that none of his future legislation would make it through her committee unless he supported her bill.

Vote trading such as this violates Colorado’s Constitution. The penalty for vote trading is immediate expulsion.

We applaud Geitner for bringing this issue forward even at the risk of putting his career on the line to expose this egregious and corrupt maneuver.

Watch Geitner’s statement at approximately 22:15 below:

Tim Geitner, Moment of Privilege Colorado House 2019 Day 082

In the video, House Majority Leader Alec Garnett initially stops Geitner, leading to a twenty-minute recess where it is unclear what lawmakers are discussing.

But, Majority Leader Garnett’s apparent alarm at the pending public announcement of his caucus member’s flagrantly inappropriate conduct clearly shows.

Depending on who it is, it would not surpise us if Democrats get nasty in an effort to protect their own.

House Republicans later reiterated Geitner’s remarks in a press release.

Potential Perpetrators

Little information is available, including the name of the female majority member, but we did some digging.

Geitner’s only bill scheduled for a House committee is HB19-1252, a bill with bipartisan support no less.

We cannot confirm the identity of the Democrat now under investigation. But, there is reason to believe the majority member who threatened Geitner is on the House Education Committee where 1252 is scheduled.

The committee is made up of thirteen members, six of whom are females in the Democrat majority.

These members include Chair Barbara McLachlan, Vice Chair Brianna Buentello, Janet P. Buckner, Lisa Cutter, Julie McCluskie, and Dafna Michaelson Jenet.

McLachlan is even the bipartisan co-sponsor on Geitner’s bill scheduled for the Education committee next Tuesday.

Your guess is as good as ours who, if any of these committee members, are responsible. But given the circumstances, there is a decent chance one of these six is to blame.

What does all this mean?

Takeaway

Power hungry Democrats aren’t leaving anything on the table this legislative session and Coloradans are starting to get fed up.

So it comes as no surprise the massive overreach may have morphed into illegal bribery and coercion reminiscent of “Boss” Tweed’s work in Tammany Hall.

Will Democrats observe legislative rules and expel a member of their caucus if she is found guilty or will Democrat leadership work to cover this embarrassing scandal?

If Democrats choose to cover up this alleged incident, we may quickly see grassroots activists respond with another recall.

Currently, it is unclear how the majority in leadership will respond. But one thing is certain, this will not go away quietly.

  1. I believe every Democrat is capable of this act and has probably engaged in some activity of this nature at one time or another. It is what they do, it is what they have announced they will do.

  2. I agreeEVERY “Represetative” at EVERY LEVEL of “Goevernance” – which is now quickly becoming TYRANNY instead has or is taking this kind of action. You see it in the Fed House, Congress, Senate and States are overrun with this mental illness of greed and power. WE MUST STOP THIS!

  3. Just think of how many votes they have bribed and coerced to get the unconstitutional Red Flag bill this far along?

  4. I remember when Pelosi threatened America that if she didn’t get to be speaker millions would die then once she was speaker she said prepare for lot’s of violence. I assume she is talking about the gun confiscations and some other extremely toxic stuff headed our way.

  5. It does not matter…Colorado is lost…The liberal idiots in Colorado’s house and senate will soon annex your state to California…
