Denver, CO – Yesterday, Governor Jared Polis abused emergency powers again to close the doors of more private businesses in Colorado. The new order also extends closures to April 30th.

Hair and nail salons, spas, tattoo and massage parlors are all closed now whether they want to be or not. This is in addition to the closure of restaurants, bars, in-person dining, gyms, casinos, and theaters across the state.

Businesses that do not comply will face up to $1,000 fines and a year of jail time.

Polis also had this to say on the matter of folks ignoring the suggested 10 person gathering limit:

“Don’t be dumb here and think you’re getting away with something just because the cops aren’t able to shut you down.”

This is tyranny, folks. How long until the police are given the authority to shut down gatherings of ten or more people?

Yes, COVID-19 needs to be taken seriously. Yes, you should limit close exposure to others as much as possible.

However, this does not give the government the right to wreck the livelihoods of hard-working citizens. At this point, the risk of an economic downturn as a result of these draconian policies is more of a certainty than a question.

What’s more, Polis does not even seem to bat an eye at the damage he is causing to the state.

  1. I am so tired of government telling me what is best for me and trying to run my life. We are all adults and perfectly able to make our own decisions. Shutting everything down only creates more hardship. What happens when everyone no longer has an income? It creates desperation which leads to very negative outcomes. Destroying our local economy is not the answer.

  2. Absolutely what’s happening is unconstitutional and people NEED to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and stand up to this! My line in the sand is a lockdown and I will NOT comply!
