Hypocrite: Governor Jared Polis Compared Arizona Law to Nazi Germany in 2010

Denver, CO – Governor Jared Polis compared an Arizona Law to Nazi Germany in 2010 but now says drawing the same comparison is offensive to him as a Jewish American.

Polis played the victim card in a press conference yesterday as people across the state liken his “police state” to that of Nazi Germany.

“As a Jewish American who lost family in the Holocaust, I’m offended by any comparison to Nazism,” he said, tearing up and choking back emotion.  “We act to save lives — the exact opposite of the slaughter of 6 million Jews and many Gypsies and Catholics, gays and lesbians and Russians and so many others. That being said, we know that these steps are difficult.”

The problem is, Polis made the same comments ten years ago, but in reference to Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signing a new immigration law.

Back in 2010, Polis made a statement comparing the law intended to protect innocent lives from gangs and human traffickers to Nazi Germany.

“It is absolutely reminiscent of second class status of Jews in Germany prior to World War II when they had to have their papers with them at all times and were subject to routine inspections at the suspicion of being Jewish,” Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo), who is Jewish, told POLITICO.

“I fear that Arizona is headed for a police state and it really underscores the need for immigration reform at the federal level to fix our system,” he said.

Polis went on to say it is a “fair comparison” to liken Arizona laws and lawmakers to Nazi Germany.

“I think it’s a very fair comparison and I hope that we’re not headed on the same trajectory that Nazi Germany was,” Polis said. “But this was a very recent experience for Jewish Americans and Jews worldwide and it’s something that when we see similarities we start ringing alarm bells.”

Today, the media is attacking the Colorado GOP and commenters on Facebook for making Polis cry.

Governor Jared Polis has created a police state in Colorado in the eyes of many citizens. Now that the same (and by Polis’ own reasoning a fair) comparison about his executive orders is being made, the comparison is wrong. Now that the comparison does not benefit his own rhetoric, it is offensive.

At least two counties in Colorado now require proof of residence to even travel on county roads. These orders are punishable by the Public Health Orders handed down by government agencies coordinating with the Polis administration.

Polis is playing the victim card because Coloradans are fed up with being subjugated, and he is feeling the heat. Polis even announced that large public gatherings are now banned in the same press conference yesterday.

The Governor of Colorado is acting like a tyrant while playing a hypocritical victim card that does not pass the smell test when it is compared to his own record.

This should be reported on by every media outlet attacking Coloradans for making the same comparison Polis himself made ten years ago.

  1. I wonder if Polis’ sensibilities get all offended at the years democrats have called President Trump Hitler and his supporters, nazis?

  2. Polis is the “jar-headed” Nazi freak in this episode; time for all liberal dimwitted commies to be removed and imprisoned for treason agains the USA!

  3. nero is a self serving narcissist, who will say any thing , do any thing to further his/its agenda, much like obama. So the real test is did he create a police state, and if you have half a brain the answer is yes he did circumvented the Constitution, and it an other test for the future, which he will try and use again, now that we let him get away with it. Him being offend is nothing but Kabuki theater to serve his own interest, now that people are fed up with his over bearing tactics. We are not stupid as he wants people to think, we know what we must do when face with this virus, after 2 weeks we knew what each person must do, and we should have been getting back to work. But with control fanatics , it is more control. I hope he did not take his frustration out on some , as he has a history of doing, now that people are pushing back, just an observation

  4. Yes, “Pants-On-Fire” Polis is not only a pathological liar, but a hypocrite, as well. It’s okay for him to accuse someone else of behaving in a “Nazi-like” manner; but, he’s offended when others accuse him of similar behaviors. But his behavior IS “Nazi-like.” Here’s why:

Once Hitler gained power, he moved quickly to end German democracy. In 1933, he convinced his cabinet to invoke emergency clauses of the constitution that permitted the suspension of individual freedoms of press, speech, and assembly. Interestingly, these restrictions applied to ALL German citizens and were not specifically targeted at Jews (that would come later).

Dictator Polis has already tried to do the same. Very early in his reign of terror, he had his staff attempt to coerce the Pueblo Chieftain (newspaper) to not print an article that was critical of Polis. Fortunately, the Chieftain told them where to go and printed the article. Polis lied and claimed he wasn’t trying to suppress freedom of the press. Really? If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck — IT’S A DUCK!

Now, King Polis is using an emergency (the COVID-19 virus pandemic) to ban large public assemblies. He claims it’s to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. But the real reason is he’s beginning to realiz how unpopular he is and doesn’t want people to assemble in protest against him and his policies. (That would hurt his feelings, and he might start crying, again.) There’s a protest scheduled in Denver this Saturday; so, we’ll see how that goes. My bet is he’ll have the Denver Gestapo there in full force to break it up.

When you look at the actions Hitler took in 1933, it looks very similar to what Polis is doing today. So, I’d say, “Yes”; Polis’ actions are VERY “Nazi-like.”

  5. King Polis sits with his millions in the bank plus the generous paychecks he gets from We The People.
What does he care if your small business goes under, you cannot make your mortgage/rent payment, you have to apply for food stamps, you cannot attend church, you cannot visit your elderly relative in senior care? The list could go on. The answer is Polis does NOT care, fake tears and all. It is shameful what he has done to destroy the working families and small business owners (including franchise owners) all because he is a power mad lunatic liberal governor.

  6. The fact that Colorado voted for him to be Governor says a lot about the people
of Colorado, which IS not good at all. We are turning into CA! Vote him out if you
don’t want to become CA. Many people , mostly middle class, are leaving CA to
live in Vegas, CO, FL, TX,AZ.and up the west coast. Sadly they bring attitudes, politics and the same
mentality that they escaped from. They now have the jobs, a lower cost of
living and are not letting go of the habits and politics. Polis is a confirmation of that.

  7. Big difference between honing in on people because of their color and country of origin and trying to save lives by instituting some incorrectly labeled inconveniences. How rude. How selfish. How stupid of these people who are claiming their rights are being “taken away from them” because they’re temporarily told to stay at home. Yes, Arizona’s profiling runs parallel to World War Two tactics. But you don’t hear Colorado’s governor saying that only blacks must stay home. If you don’t like how the administration is running the state, the beaches in Florida and Georgia are calling your names. Florida is reopening their beaches today as a matter of fact despite being one of the viral hot spots in the country. Don’t want to live? That’s fine. Just don’t bring the rest of us down with you.

  8. If further review ultimately discloses that election fraud put this weirdo in office, then a much more plausible alibi, at least, offers a halfway reasonable excuse for why Colorado citizens have been rendered utter fools.
    Enough said.

  9. I’m used to liberals trashing anyone who doesn’t agree with their socialist view. Polis is just one of the herd. I’m a proud card carrying member of the NRA. We’re now considered to be a domestic terrorist organization by California and New York and all the anti-gun groups from Bloomberg to the Gifford’s. Being a western slope native,I go home see friends and family regularly. I’ve seen little evidence of anyone paying attention to Polis’s draconian shut down. I don’t think the Governor is nearly as popular as he and the Denver Post says he is.
