NANNY STATE BILL OF THE WEEK: SB19-019

Well the fun police are at it again with SB19-019.

As we highlighted last week, the Democrats want to take your fireworks away.

SB19-019 earned the title of nanny state bill of the week after passing out of the legislature.

Current laws regarding fireworks are set by counties, which can be quite loose or strict – even banned.

But state law suspends those laws – no matter how strict, from May 31 through July 5. This allows you to show your American patriotism in a loud and exciting fashion even if you live in a liberal “no fun zone.”

Now, Democrats removed the exemption.

While in the House, Republicans offered a common sense amendment to protect citizens traveling between counties.

It would have protected individuals who live in fireworks-friendly counties, transporting fireworks through unfriendly counties.

This was defeated by Democrats.

So if you plan on having a party and can light off all the fireworks you want on your property, if you possess them in the wrong county while driving, you’re a criminal.

Democrats once again want to be the fun police, because they know what’s better for you.
