Denver, CO – Representative Kyle Mullica and other Democrats introduced the Not So “Safe” Storage bill in the Colorado State House last Friday, March 6, 2020.

HB20-1355, Secure Storage Of Firearms, will criminalize lawful gun owners for protecting their homes.

The bill is sponsored by Representatives Monica Duran (D-Jefferson) and Kyle Mullica (D-Adams), and Senators Jeff Bridges (D-Arapahoe) and Chris Hanson (D-Arapaho).

A violation of the unconstitutional legislation results in a Class 2 Misdemeanor charge. This charge carries a sentence of up to 364 days in jail, as well as a fine.

Mullica had this to say about punishing lawful gun owners with yet another misguided gun control law:

“The goal for us is to create as safe of an environment as we can in the house if there is a firearm present,” state Rep. Kyle Mullica, a Northglenn Democrat who is leading the push for the measure, said in an interview. “The goal is not to necessarily punish people. The goal is to create that safe environment and to prevent accidents from happening.”

Newsflash for Mullica – this bill punishes people. It puts families at risk from not only intruders but also the increasingly oppressive Colorado government.

If signed into law by Governor Jared Polis, this will take effect on July 1, 2020.

It will be heard next in the House State, Veterans, & Military Affairs Committee.
