Sanctuary cities? No, maybe just a sanctuary state?

Has Colorado become a Sanctuary State or is that just the perception of our neighbors? It’s quite possible that the nation has taken notice of the far-left tilt of Colorado this past year. One of the themes of Colorado’s last election was “Don’t Califorinicate Our State,” now California’s theme may be “Don’t Color-adopt it!” (Please offer up some options for this in the comments).

After logging off the old Gmail in Firefox a few minutes ago, Google made this article suggestion from New Mexico…yeah, New Mexico – not Colorado even though The Denver Post did cover this. “Colorado governor’s office speaks out after migrants bused from New Mexico”. New Mexico apparently has overloaded shelters of immigrants from Central America seeking political asylum, so their newly elected liberal Governor took charge and put them on a bus to Denver.

Without getting into the issue of political asylum and whether this is a ploy – it’s odd that the New Mexico Governor broke protocol without notifying Colorado that they were doing this. This was basically, “we have a problem, now we’re going to make it your problem without telling you. So our bad…when and if you find out”.

Note the nuances in both articles, about how the non-profit Annunciation House had NEVER done this before. After what the nation saw here in Colorado last legislative session – this seems a perfectly acceptable practice – because our far-left liberals have totalitarian control of our state and they will accept anybody with open arms.

Even without notice and on cue – our favorite Boulderite Jared Polis (AKA our Governor), was happy to take these migrants: “Gov. Jared Polis’ office said Monday he supports providing humanitarian assistance to asylum seekers” (The Denver Post, “New Mexico governor’s office paid $4,000 to bus asylum seekers to Denver-area churches”, 5-15-2019).

It’s not like Colorado has its own problems without taking on the issues of neighboring states. The Oil and Gas Industry may be quietly moving operations from Colorado to New Mexico, while New Mexico is sending jobless immigrants here. This doesn’t seem like a particularly fair trade to us.

This is the state of our state right now. This is why elections matter.

  1. Total BS. I say load them back onto a bus and deliver them back to the New Mexico governor’s door! There’s never any repercussions for this nonsense. It would be nice if we had a real governor that truly cared about the future of Colorado !
