Tom’s Diner gets a reprieve from being taken by the government

About a month ago, our readers were pretty mad about the theft of a business owner’s right to sell his restaurant. We wrote about how Tom’s Diner on Colfax Avenue in Denver was going to be “saved” from development by the City and County of Denver.

Tom Mussina, the owner and, namesake of Tom’s Diner, was looking to sell his business – one that Tom helped build and struggled to keep open as is the nature of restaurants.

The only buyer he found was a developer because unfortunately, the property itself held the value. The only way for Tom to be rewarded for the fruits of his labor was to sell the entire property. His goal was to retire and help his financially strapped family.

Well, some (and we’re assuming) liberal residents in the area filed to have the property designated for Historic Preservation. This would prevent Tom from selling, and he would end up with NOTHING for his lifetime of hard work.

Historic Preservation, as we explained in the article, is a way for the government to take your property by destroying the value.

Well, guess what?! This received a lot of public attention. We’d like to think our readers contributed to that because our original article is one of our most clicked on and shared in the history of our website. As you can guess, the public got behind Tom. It became clear that although the Denver City Council was ready to vote to designate Tom’s Diner for Historic Preservation on August 26, this was wildly unpopular.

We’re guessing the group of libs that filed the petition caved to public pressure. They recently withdrew the application for Historic Preservation.

Now Tom and his family can realize the fruits of their labor.

Occasionally, we have good news on our website, and we’re extremely happy about this one.

This win goes to the citizens and Tom. The loss goes to the government and the socialists.

Stay tuned, and please share!
