Washington, D.C. – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced yesterday that the House would begin a formal impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump.
The inquiry comes after Trump announced the release of the transcript from his phone call with Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to the media, the transcript appears to be a major focus of the inquiry.
Trump supporters who just watched a costly two-year investigation into the President end with no evidence of wrongdoing are obviously frustrated. In fact, a GOP joint fundraising committee netted $1 million by 8 pm yesterday.
Not surprisingly, the majority of the media blitz continues to paint Trump in a negative light despite the release of the transcript. We read the transcript, and we may not be lawyers, but we see no condemning evidence.
However, that will not stop the never-Trump media and the Trump-hating Democrats in Congress. The death by a thousand cuts strategy requires that they slander Trump any way they can find. Apparently, that means launching an impeachment inquiry that will likely pass the House and be struck down in the Senate for lack of evidence.
If there is legitimate evidence to impeach President Trump, he should be impeached. However, the evidence never materialized after the Mueller investigation, and we do not see it now.
The real question that needs asking is, what is the goal of House Democrats?
This impeachment inquiry will only further divide the country. Are Democrats pandering to an increasingly radicalized base? Worse still, the pressured release of the unredacted conversation with Zelensky will only serve to weaken U.S. foreign relations.
Democrats in Congress are turning the D.C. swamp into a complete circus because they cannot accept the outcome of the 2016 election. They cannot stand the success of the current administration. Mostly, they are desperate to regain power over the people of the United States.
Frankly, it is an embarrassment to U.S. politics and the Democratic party. Will the American people see the inquiry as overreach?
