Polis’ Staffer Attempted to Silence the Media

Denver, CO – Staff in the office of Governor Jared Polis attempted to silence the media according to a new report from The Center Square.

The story, “Polis creates ‘Office of Future of Work,’ third new taxpayer-funded office this year,” apparently did not sit well with Polis and or his staff. A staff member contacted two editors who printed the story and requested they remove it from their websites.

A Colorado Open Records Act request (CORA) by The Center Square revealed that editors denied the request at both news outlets.

“I see you have run a recent article published by The Center Square which is not a reputable news source,” Cahill emailed to editors of the Kiowa County Press and The Chronicle-News in Trinidad. “Would you consider removing it?”

“No. I see no issue with the story,” The Chronicle-News Editor Eric John Monson responded, according to emails obtained by The Center Square through its CORA filing. “Very surprised you would make such a request.”

“Polis staff asks newspapers to unpublish story on new taxpayer-funded state office,” by Dan McCaleb, The Center Square

No factual information was reportedly offered by the staffer to back up the claim that The Center Square was “not a reputable news source.”

By our estimate, nothing in the story appears to be factually incorrect. In fact, we wrote about the costly new offices created by Polis’ executive orders here at the Colorado Citizen Press.

It is unclear if Polis himself took part in the effort to silence negative reporting on his work as Governor. However, the fact Polis’ staff made an effort in the first place calls into question the administration’s integrity on the matter.

We fail to see any appropriate reason for the Governor’s office to censor the media. If the Polis administration is willing to silence the media, what other sources are they willing to quiet or control to further their agenda?

This is a huge bombshell for the Polis administration. Yet, mainstream media outlets are not reporting on the matter as we write this story. We hope coverage is coming, as Coloradans deserve to know the truth.

  1. Liberal Colorado is a damned nightmare. We need moratoriums and strict expansion limitations on new building throughout the entire state. Slow it all down, this is not the Colorado that I know. This place is over run by carpet baggers and the migrants they’re selling to.
