New York Dems claim the Constitution doesn’t apply to them – Colorado Dems might try it next

Double Jeopardy is bad for citizens!

Hey readers, have you ever heard of the legal concept of Double Jeopardy? Well, if you haven’t – to oversimplify it’s a common law and constitutional legal concept that prevents you from being prosecuted for the same crime twice.

It’s even spelled out in the 5th Amendment of our US Constitution. (Get more information by clicking here)

To no one’s surprise, the Democrats are willing to throw the Constitution out the window. Now they are working at throwing out the entire basis for not only our government, but our legal system.

ICYMI (for you old-timers this is an acronym for “In case you missed it”) the Democrats in the New York legislature turned the Constitution and hundreds of years of common law on its head by claiming they don’t have to accept Presidential pardons and can commit Double Jeopardy. You know the State of New York, that as the libs destroy the Electoral College, will pretty much determine who all future Presidents will be.

The President has pardon power, and we can talk about the Separation of Powers and the Supremacy Clause here. Most of you already understand these concepts because you’re smart, evidenced by reading our little news website! But just in case you want or need a refresher, click on the links above to learn more.

So why are the actions of New York so problematic? First, this throws some generally accepted principles of both the right, left and middle on its head. Second, anger over President Trump has blinded even the most level-headed liberals (yeah, some do exist – we think…one of the writers saw Bigfoot in Taco Bell last weekend – that may be more plausible). Third, this should scare you as a citizen.

Be very scared. Think about being accused and acquitted of a crime, and the government with practically unlimited use of your own tax dollars keeps on trying you for the same crime until they get a conviction. This is a de facto definition of tyranny. Tyranny is a bad thing and should be fought at all costs.

We saw a lot of over-reach and tyranny in the Colorado Legislature this past year. Hopefully, the suspension of Double Jeopardy isn’t coming to a theater near you. Don’t share this article with your Dem friend and give them any funny ideas!
