Stolen from the headlines: Want to make money?…

Government taxation, paying public employees, then taxing them – seems like a shady multi-level marketing scheme

If you want to make money…Work for the Government.

It’s not that we’re lazy here at the Colorado Citizens Press, but sometimes an article just speaks to us and speaks for itself. This article from the conservative CNS News caught our eye. It’s very telling that you can now make more money in the public sector working for the government than you can in the private sector.

How much more? According to the article a little over 14% than the traditional private sector, and a little over 6% than the self-employed. Does anyone see the irony here? How is government funded? Yes, predominantly from taxes on income. These taxes fund public sector employees salaries that are higher. Then these public sector employees pay taxes.

The government gets its cut at every level. Has anyone googled “Multi-Level Marketing Scheme?” We may have to add a footnote to Wikipedia to include the government in the definition.

It should surprise no one that the highest paid government workers work for the federal government. Specifically, the median average was $66,000. Compare that to the average private sector worker at $46,800. That’s a significant disparity.

We didn’t click through the data (there are links in the article), but there is no indication of whether this is just salary (it implies it is) or if this includes benefits. Usually, with a government job, you get the Cadillac healthcare plans, and pretty generous retirement, vacation, childcare, etc.

So, if you don’t morally object – getting a job with the feds is a good gig. Socialism at its finest.
