Democrats launched their attack on the Colorado energy industry earlier this session by enacting increased regulation on oil and gas.
Now, they want workers in the energy industry they are directly responsible for putting out of work with their “green” agenda, to suckle on the teat of government to provide for their wellbeing.
Speaker KC Becker and Rep. Rochelle Galindo are so compassionate for the coal workers they displaced in the workforce, that they want to enact a nanny state transition program so the workers can maintain a wellbeing that they already regulated them out of.
According to the declaration language in the bill HB19-1314, half…HALF of all of Coloradeo’s net power generation is provided by coal, while natural gas accounts for a quarter.
Then it says, “Colorado’s power sector, and the nation, is moving away from coal as a fuel source based on consumer demand for cleaner power and the declining costs of natural gas and renewable sources.”
No, we are not moving away from it because of our principals on energy sources. It’s because Democrats are using legislation as Thor’s hammer to regulate it out of existence.
I’m confident the liberal elite with their electric vehicles are not boycotting their electricity providers by not charging their cars because the electricity is coming from coal.
This is the Democrat playbook: you’re morally wrong, let me set you straight, and then we will provide for you and control you.
What the bill and fiscal notes should say is, “Because we’re forcing you out of your job by enacting unreasonable and unjustifiable regulations due to an agenda based on debunked “science,” we’re setting up a program so you can rely on the state to take care of you.
This is just a way for Becker and Galindo to look sympathetic and provide cover for their own vote-sins of forcing people out of work.
Once oil and gas are run out of the state by the new regulations recently passed, are they going to want to show their sympathetic side again to help those poor families that they think can’t provide for themselves?
These Democrats are sad examples of compassionate human beings.
